Bring a string quartet or full orchestra into your home studio
Available within Roland Cloud Manager
From the austere ambiance of a symphony hall to the barroom hoopla of a hoedown, stringed instruments inform a mood. Picture Stravinsky orchestrating “The Rites of Spring” or Charlie Daniels challenging the devil to a fiddler’s duel. Examples like these illustrate the endless flexibility of orchestral strings.
European Orchestras—First-Class Sound
The fourth title in Roland’s SRX series described itself as “the world’s most expressive stereo-sampled strings at the touch of a button.” These proprietary sessions included sectional and ensemble sounds—all played with multiple articulations and diverse velocities. Performance audio was captured from noted European orchestras, lending the collection a truly first-class sound.
Classical Power - Postmodern Ambiance
Endless Parameters
As with each release in the series, SRX STRINGS includes endlessly tweakable parameters as well as a barrage of effects to bring your tones into new territories. Make a traditional Cello otherworldly, or experiment with some of the more bizarre FX sounds and create an instrument all your own.
Bow to String - Inspired Expression
Hardware Integration
Hardware synths like the SYSTEM-8 map easily many of these functions. From the pristine sonics of postmodern classical, to the distorted reverie of rockabilly, no genre lays beyond your grasp with the flexibility of SRX STRINGS.

* Although Roland has tested numerous configurations, and has determined that on average, a computer system similar to that described above will permit normal operation of the SRX STRINGS Software Synthesizer, Roland cannot guarantee that a given computer can be used satisfactorily with the SRX STRINGS Software Synthesizer based solely on the fact that it meets the above requirements. This is because there are too many other variables that may influence the processing environment, including differences in motherboard design and the particular combination of other devices involved.
About the SRX Series
In the early 2000s, Roland’s SRX expansion boards offered users genre-centric micro-suites of sounds to infuse specific instrumentation into their synthesizers. These high-fidelity samples expanded players’ pallets for music-making, plain and simple. The collections have also inspired devotees who consider the SRX boards essential to their production tool kit.
SRX hardware boards are nearly impossible to find and are exclusively available from Roland Cloud. Our collection of VSTs pay homage to the original SRX boards and are ready to be utilized in a variety of workflows.
